South Africa’s favourite pick-up has a new model and it has now arrived in SA. The Toyota Hilux has been a favourite for years but there are new changes that we will have to get used to.
The SRX model for instance will now be called the Raider and the Legend will now be the top range model for Hilux. If you want something a little extra Toyota has now added the Legend RS to the range and with that, an optional ‘RS’ accessory package (referring to Roller Shutter) will be offered on Legend-grade models with a motorised roller shutter, graphite-coloured sportsbar, rubberised bedliner, assisted tailgate with central-locking function and dust-defense kit.
The power from the 2.8-liter turbo diesel has now been increased 150kW and 500N.m, while the suspension has been tweaked with new leaf springs for a better ride. You can get a manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox as an option also the towing capacity of the Hilux has been increased by 300 kg taking up to 3 500 kg.
