Jaguar maintains its rivalry with the Germans by updating their XF, over years the XF has been there offering itself to people who don’t want to be part of the German cliché. Elegant and mature in its design the XF has established itself greatly, now with the latest upgrade they solidify themselves even more in the executive saloon segment.
Starting off with the looks, Jaguar has made some very noticeable changes, the front has a new wider grille and a new bumper. The LED headlights are now slimmer than before, Premium LED technology is fitted as standard across the range and is available with Auto High Beam Assist on SE and HSE models.
At the rear, we see a wider bumper and body-coloured rear upper valance, which visually lower the car. Darkened rear light surrounds now also feature on the XF. If you opt for the R-Dynamic specification, it features a series of distinct design elements for a more performance-focused look.
Moving into the engine. The XF will be offered with 2 petrol engines and a diesel. The petrol engines start with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 183kW/365N.m this particular engine is in a rear-wheel-drive setup. The other petrol on offer is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo, AWD setup that produces a fruity 221kW/400N.m. The diesel is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo but produces 147kW/430N.m and is in a rear-wheel-drive setup. All models will have an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
And finally, inside the XF, It has a newly designed cabin that features not only great tech but luxurious materials. A new centrally-mounted 11.4-inch curved-glass HD touchscreen has been put in place to control the new Pivi Pro infotainment system. It’s also Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible. A new 12.3-inch interactive driver display and Head-up display is also fitted for the driver’s convenience.
Something else that Jaguar have done something called Active road noise cancellation which constantly monitors vibrations from the road surface and calculates the opposite phase sound wave needed to remove the noise heard by the occupants making for a quieter ride. That’s not all, because Jaguar’s ClearSight Interior Rear View Mirror gives the driver an unobstructed view of the road behind, uses a wide-angle rear-facing camera, the system feeds images to a high-definition screen within the frameless rearview mirror.
The Jaguar XF will arrive in South Africa early next year but prices will be announced closer to launch date.
