MINI is expanding its Countryman range with the new Untamed Edition, a variant that adds all-terrain tyres, exclusive styling details and outdoor-inspired equipment to its largest model.
In South Africa, the Untamed Edition will be offered exclusively on the Countryman S ALL4. The local launch is expected at the start of the second quarter of 2027, with production scheduled to begin in November 2026 at BMW Group Plant Leipzig in Germany.
The edition features newly developed Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres fitted to exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels. Textured matt black decals on the wheel arches, side sills and bonnet help protect the bodywork from stone chips while giving the vehicle a more rugged appearance.
Other exterior changes include redesigned front and rear underbody protection elements, a revised grille and Dark Steel accents. The Untamed logo, featuring a stylised mountain motif, appears on the C-pillar.
Buyers will be able to choose from several exterior colours, including Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue, Frozen Nomad Blue, Nanuq White and Midnight Black. Frozen Nomad Blue is notable as MINI’s first matt exterior paint finish for series production. Roof finishes will be available in Glazed White or Jet Black.
Outdoor-inspired interior
Inside, the Countryman Untamed Edition features exclusive Vescin Nightshade Blue sports seats with perforated upholstery and knitted sections inspired by rock formations. Cornflower Blue stitching and piping add contrast, while the dashboard and door panels feature knitted surfaces in Millennial Melange.
MINI has also replaced the Vibrant Silver interior accents with Dark Steel finishes. Additional Cornflower Blue details appear on the steering wheel and selected cabin elements.

The centre console storage box has been redesigned with a more rugged appearance and elastic retaining straps inspired by outdoor equipment. Rubber floor mats and a matching luggage compartment mat feature a three-dimensional pattern influenced by natural rock formations.
The Countryman’s existing practicality remains central to the package, with its spacious cabin, flexible transport options and elevated seating position supporting everyday use as well as longer trips.
All-terrain tyres and ALL4 all-wheel drive
The Untamed Edition combines its all-terrain tyres with MINI’s ALL4 intelligent all-wheel drive system. The ABS, Dynamic Stability Control and steering systems have also been calibrated to accommodate the tyres and revised suspension setup.
However, some of the edition’s off-road enhancements will not be available in South Africa. The 15mm suspension lift, which increases ground clearance by up to 19mm, is excluded from local models.
The MINI roof tent developed with Italian specialist AUTOHOME will also not be specified for South African vehicles. The tent features a hard shell, integrated gas struts and weather-resistant materials, allowing it to be opened quickly for overnight stays outdoors.

A standard tow bar provides a towing capacity of up to 2,000kg. The roof can carry up to 75kg while driving and up to 300kg when stationary.
MINI has also partnered with outdoor equipment specialist HELINOX to develop a camping collection that includes folding chairs and tables designed for portability.
The MINI Countryman Untamed Edition will enter production in November 2026, ahead of its expected South African launch in the second quarter of 2027. Pricing has not yet been announced.
