For those that want the ‘VRRRPAAH’ excitement but in a family size package, VW has just revealed an answer, they have taken the Tiguan and gave it the ‘R’ treatment.
The facelift Tiguan is expected to launch locally early next year, and the R model towards the end of 2021. The details on the Tiguan R? Well, for now, all we know is that it will have a 2.0-litre engine giving out 235kW which is plenty for a car usually used to haul a family. We also hear they it will have VW 4motion system meaning it will be four-wheel drive, making for some rapid acceleration.
The facelift changes can be seen in the front grille and LED headlamps and the front and rear bumpers. On the inside VW says they have made a digital version of the steering wheel which will have illuminated touch sliders, those can be seen on the new Golf 8.
Pretty exciting things are happening at VW and we cannot wait to see what more they will bring to us in SA. More details about the Tiguan are yet to come.
