The A4 is one of Audi’s best sellers. The updated version is officially in SA and features a refreshed look, more tech and new engines for SA.
When it comes to styling the new Audi A4 has a refreshed look. Starting at the front it gets a new broader and flatter single frame grille: horizontal lines emphasize the width at the front and rear. strong contours above the wheels and make the quattro genes outwardly visible.
LED headlights now come standard in the Audi A4 and are available in different variations. The 35 TFSI features low beam, high beam and daytime running lights in LED technology. The 40 TFSI and S4 will feature a higher version of LED including a different daytime running light design and dynamic indicators for the rear; also available optionally is the top-of-the-line Matrix LED headlights with fully automatic high beam.
Buyers have a choice between three trim levels; standard, Advanced and S line. S-line trim comes standard high gloss styling package to accentuate it’s exterior look. Customers can choose from 12 paint colours, including a new Terra Grey colour option. 17″ wheels are fitted as standard on the entry trimline when it comes to the wheel options, and a standard 18″ wheel size on the Advanced and S line trims. For another sportier look, there is an option to upgrade to 19″. With an option of three styles, the Audi S4 offers 19 “wheels as standard.
Inside the updated Audi A4 features new 10.1 inches MMI touch display which is angled more toward the driver, and also comes with acoustic feedback. Two instrument cluster variants are available: standard is the analog driver information system with colour display, or the all-digital Audi virtual cockpit plus. The driver can operate the 12.3-inch display with full HD resolution using the multifunction steering wheel with a choice of three views. The interior has a host of leather/leatherette colour combinations. The S line interior kit can be openly mixed with the exterior lines and comes with S embossed Fine Nappa leather. Although ambient LED interior lighting is natural, the package of contour / ambient lighting adds highlights for a very premium finish to the interior in the dark and is included as part of the Technology Package.
The Audi A4 is the first model of the company to bring fully integrated Audi connect communication features, allowing safety and service; security and comfort as well as real-time infotainment functionality to the driving experience.
The A4 model line will be sold with three turbocharged engines. From the Audi A4 35 TFSI up to the Audi S4 TFSI, their power outputs range from 110 kW to 260 kW.
Two engine variants (A4 35 TFSI and 40 TFSI) will be fitted with a mild-hybrid system (MHEV) based on 12 volts for market launch in October 2020, reducing fuel consumption while improving comfort. This broad-based electrification contributes significantly to achieving a positive consumption of fuel. In daily usage, according to individual Audi calculations, the MHEV system decreases fuel consumption by up to 0,3 litres per 100 kilometres. All A4 models come with an automatic model from the production line.
