We recently got to drive the all-new @audisouthafrica Q5 Sportback 40 TDI. Its a more stylish version of the Q5, but when we’ll let you guys decide on the styling. Our Myth Black unit was rocking optional 19-inch wheels and the black styling package.
The cabin of the Q5 Sportback is well put together, a typical Audi premium fit and finish. Surprisingly, its coupe like shape doesn’t hinder headroom for rear occupants as the roof is only 16mm lower than the normal Q5. Upfront you get a Audi’s customizable virtual cockpit and a 10.1-inch touchscreen thats running Audi’s MMI navigation plus with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Powering the Q5 Sportback 40 TDI is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 140kW and 400Nm of torque. Its sends its power to all four wheels via a 7-speed s tronic transmission. When it comes to fuel consumption, its a gem. A 1200km trip yielded as low as 5.3 l/100km and 5.8 l/100km at most. It’s sublime on the open road and drives well in the city and thats thanks to the optional suspension with damper control.
The Q5 Sportback is hard to fault, with the just the price being on the stiff side. Pricing for this 40 TDI starts at R1 006 000 and once you start adding niceties, the price starts getting higher with our test having R193 000 worth of optional extras.
