The Land Rover Defender needs no introduction, it was one of the most anticipated releases as it has such a cult following and a very specific one at that. Now though we see plenty of changes with this new Defender so let’s see what’s what.

The body styles will include the Defender 90 in a short-wheelbase form and the 110 as the longer version. With that, both variants will have petrol diesel and hybrid engine choices, the base engine, the D240, is powered by a 2.0-litre twin-turbocharged Diesel engine that produces 177kW and 430Nm. Then after that, there is the P300, a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 221kW and 400Nm. Lastly, the P400 is a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine giving out 294kW and 523Nm, now that will definitely have the grunt to pull you out of any quicksand you will find yourself getting stuck in. All vehicles will have all-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox.
Moving on to the specs that really matter, the longer 110 has an approach angle of 38-degrees, a 28-degree break-over angle and a 40-degree departure angle when in off-road mode. The ground clearance is now 291 mm and it can wade through water 900m deep. Just to name a few new capabilities.
