Fast SUVs have become very popular in today’s era, and BMW has just revealed their soul snatching-fire spitting-go-like-hell SUVs the new BMW X5 M and the X6 M and to add there will be an even more powerful competition variant for more theatrics.
Now the engine that you will find in these SUVs is a very familiar one as it is coming out of the BMW M5, a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 441kW and 750Nm of torque however the Competition with have 460kW. Performance figures, BMW says the 0-100km/h sprint is dealt within 3.9 seconds and the Competition in 3.8 seconds, which is pretty brisk for an SUV if you ask me.
What is also shared with the M5 is the eight-speed torque converter gearbox that the X5 M and X6 M will have, these SUVs will also have an all-wheel-drive system that will be rear bias, but here is the catch it will not be like the M5 where you can select the power to go fully rear-wheel drive, the most you can get is the 4WD Sport mode setting and perhaps a drift or two might come about.
About their design, BMW M has put some go-faster bits around the car with new bumpers and bigger tyres making it have a more fierce presence that the standard X5 and X6, the Competition will look a lot eviler with black grilles, extended wheel arches bigger air intakes, more aggressive bumpers and larger wheels. Inside it has more M badges thrown around, some sport seats and sport steering wheel to look the part but the dash is more or less what we have grown accustomed to now.
This entry by BMW will most certainly heat up the SUV wars as more brands are yet to bring out their big guns, the BMW X5 M and X6 M are due to be launched around the second quarter of 2020.
