The X3 is one of the best cars BMW builds in our opinion. It’s really hard to fault and the facelift version just made it a little bit harder to fault.
On the outside it has a revised look which we like. It features a revised grille, new front and rear bumpers, new exhaust tailpipes, new headlights which are slimmer, and new full LED taillights. The M40i distinguishes itself from the model line up with unique optional 21″ Jet Black Bicolour wheels, and black exhaust outlets. The X3 is a pretty thing to look at.

Inside it looks like the new 3-Series which looks quite classy and solid. The cabin is premium with the use of high quality throughout the cabin. The M40i comes standard with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, panorama glass sliding/tilting sun roof, heated seats for front passengers, M Sport seats and the amazing Harmon/Kardon sound system to keep the audiophiles happy for days. It utilizes BMW’s iDrive 7 infotainment system that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The screen is crisp and infotainment easy to use, thanks to the rotary style wheel. Its quite practical as there is plenty of head and knee room for all passenger including a 550 litre boot (1600 litres with the rear seats folded) Overall, a great place to be sat in.

Powering the X3 M40i is a euphonious 3.0-litre turbo petrol inline-6 engine that develops 285kW and 500Nm of torque. Power is sent to all-four corners via an eight-speed automatic. The way this engine delivers its power is seamless and superb. BMW claims 8.9 L/100 km which is a bit ambitious as we managed an average of 10.5 L/100km during our stint. With that being said, on a long-distance trip, in Eco Pro mode and adhering to the speed limits, the 8.9 L/100km claim is achievable. The engine is amazing in the M40i and so is the exhaust note. Pin the throttle and shove to your seat is aided by one of the best sounding 6-cylinder engines on the planet. The B58 engine is truly a masterpiece from BMW. When it comes to ride quality, its rather decent with it being slightly stiff which is probably not a deal breaker for most.
The BMW X3 M40i starts from R1,444,146,20. For that price you do get a lot of car for your money. Definitely on the buy it list if you’re looking for a fun, quick, and good-looking family SUV
