Audi SA is on a rampage of late by introducing quite a few RS and S models in their range. This time around they’ve added their updated RS4 Avant, RS5 Coupe and RS5 Sportback.
So what’s new about these models? For starters, all models have wider and flatter Singleframe grilles like their bigger siblings. Just like the other RS models, the grille is a three-dimensional honeycomb structure finished in gloss black. A new egg-crate grille with the RS emblem is inserted directly into the bumper with the large lateral air inlets and vertical flaps in a new, pentagonal cut. The LED headlights have been redesigned. The LED matrix headlights now have darker bezels and come standard on the RS5 range and optional in the RS4 Avant. To give it a sportier and powerful stance both models have wider wheel archers. The matte aluminium styling package is the standard exterior appearance offering with the optional packages of gloss black or carbon/black which give the attachments at the front, rear, side sills and exterior mirror housings an even more individual look. Upon request or part of the extended black styling package, the Audi rings and the RS nameplates can be painted black.
Inside gone is the rotary and in its place is a 10.1-inch touch screen with Audi’s MMI infotainment system. The Virtual cockpit plus (12.3-inch display0 comes standard across the RS model range. To keep you banging some tunes, it comes standard with Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 3D sound. To ensure maximum driving comfort the range comes with RS sport seats are covered with fine Nappa leather in black or moon silver and honeycomb stitching as part of the standard offering.
Powering these models is an unchanged 331 kW and 600 Nm 2.9 TFSI twin-turbo V6. Power is sent to all-four wheels via a quick-shifting eight-speed tiptronic transmission. All models accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a top speed of up to 280 km/h upon request.
The new Audi RS 4 Avant, RS 5 Sportback and Coupé will officially go on sale in South Africa from 1 April 2021. Pre-deliveries to select customers who had pre-ordered the vehicle will be rewarded for their brand affinity as part of Audi’s South Africa’s pre-launch strategy.
