The New Audi TT RS Is Not Friendly At All

Audi has redesigned the TT RS to look more aggressive and beefed up than ever before.

T he Audi TT for some years has been considered a “hairdressers car” but when the RS model came to the range, I think it changed the views around it. The car is angry and serious than the standard friendly-looking version, now however it has been revised so let’s take a look at what has been done.

Starting with the looks the TT RS has been beefed up even more than before. The Quattro logo in a matt titanium-look has been re-positioned in the lower section of the aluminium grill with its matt black Singleframe. The lateral air inlets are bigger and are each divided by vertical strips on the inside and outside. There are additional radiators located behind the typical RS honeycomb grille. The lateral air inlets that extend almost to the front wheel wells make the new TT RS appear wider. At the back, a very aggressive rear wing is mounted and at the bottom, an RS-styled diffuser with oval pipes on either side can be seen.

The firepower under the hood will be plenty, as the TT RS uses the 2.5-litre turbocharged, 5-cylinder engine that can give out 294kW and 480N.m. Thanks to that engine, the Quattro all-wheel-drive system and the 7-speed S-tronic automatic transmission in the TT RS, it can get to 100kph in 3.7 seconds.

Inside, you get Nappa leather with honeycomb design patterns in different colour stitching. The Audi virtual Cockpit is also featured, a 12.3-inch screen in view of the driver that gives out all kinds of information like Navigation and G-force readings. MMI navigation plus with MMI touch including free text search and natural language voice control is standard in the TT RS.

The Audi TT RS Coupé and Roadster are now available in South Africa and these are the prices:

Audi TT RS Coupe – R1 062 000

Audi TT RS Roadster – R1 113 500
