Usually, when a car launches it will come with a ‘First Edition’, this is a spec that has very exclusive details for those that have ordered the car or purchase it early after its launch. BMW, however, has just announced that the X5 M and X6 M will be getting their first edition next year, even though the cars have already been on sale since July. We have the details on what the BMW X5 M and X6 M First editions will have.
There will be no differences in the engine output, so the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 460kW and 750Nm remains unchanged, all the new parts are all cosmetic. Both models will have jet black coloured star spoke alloys, with some parts of the exterior parts replaced with carbon fiber, like the M Carbon engine compartment cover and M Carbon exterior mirror caps.
A Frozen Dark Silver and BMW Individual Frozen Marina Bay Blue special paint finish will be available exclusively for the special-edition models to showcase the exterior design of the new BMW X5 M Competition and new BMW X6 M Competition.
And on the inside, BMW has included Individual Merino full leather trim in exclusive bi-colour Silverstone/Midnight Blue, with Black Alcantara inserts in the seat bolsters and contrast stitching in Sakhir Orange. Carbon Fibre interior trim strips are available in a special market-specific design.
The two special-edition newcomers will be produced at BMW Plant Spartanburg in the US in a limited run of 250 examples each.
The First Edition variants of the BMW X5 M Competition and BMW X6 M Competition will be available to the South African market in the first half of 2021.
