GWM has expanded the P300 range in South Africa with the new P300 D-CAB 2.0T Pioneer Hi4-T PHEV.
It is the first electrified model in the P300 range and combines a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor integrated into the nine-speed automatic transmission.
The petrol engine produces 180kW and 380Nm, while the electric motor adds 130kW and 495Nm. Combined system output is rated at 310kW and 750Nm.
The P300 PHEV uses a 33.1kWh LFP battery, providing a claimed electric-only range of up to 115km (NEDC). GWM quotes combined fuel consumption of 2.4L/100km.
Despite the electrified powertrain, the P300 retains its 4WD hardware, including 2H, 4H and 4L, a rear differential lock and low-range gearing. It also has a 3,500kg braked towing capacity.
The battery supports DC charging at up to 110kW, while V2L can supply up to 6kW when stationary and 4kW while driving.
Inside, the P300 PHEV gets a 15.6-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with heated and ventilated front seats.
The GWM P300 D-CAB 2.0T Pioneer Hi4-T PHEV is priced at R914,900.
