Two days ago Porsche posted a teaser on their Instagram page with the caption “Welcoming a new addition to the family. Stay tuned. #Porsche #Taycan“. Say hello to the entry level Porsche Taycan which is rear driven and comes with two battery size options.
The first battery size is a single-deck Performance Battery with a gross capacity of 79.2 kWh and produces up to 300 kW. The second battery option is a two-deck Performance Battery Plus which has a gross capacity is 93.4 kWh and produces up to 350 kW. Porsche claims a range of 431 km and 484 km respectively. Porsche also claims, “This means that both batteries can be charged from five to 80 per cent SoC in 22.5 minutes and that power for a further 100 kilometres is achieved after only five minutes.”
Though battery sizes are not the same, both accelerate from 0 – 100 km/h in 5,4 seconds and go on to do a top speed of 230 km/h. Within its model family, distinguishing features of the Taycan include aerodynamically tuned 19-inch Taycan Aero wheels and black anodised brake callipers. The black front apron, side sills and rear diffuser are similar to those on the Taycan 4S. As usual, LED headlights are fitted as standard.
Inside you’ll find a free-standing curved instrument cluster, partial leather interior as well as front comfort seats with eight-way electrical adjustment.
