The Toyota Corolla Hatch was officially launched in 2019 but Toyota has already given a spec update. Toyota has added some new technologies to the hatch and some other comforts as well. We have the details on all that is new about the Toyota Corolla Hatch.
The Corolla hatch still has the same engine, all variants are powered by the 1.2-litre turbocharged 8NR-FTS engine, producing 85kW and 185Nm. You can opt to get a 10-speed Shiftmatic CVT or the standard 6-speed manual.
Toyota has thrown on some sporty directional 18-inch alloy wheels, shod with 225/40/R18 tyres and this can better the handling of the Hatch. There are some new colour options as well, Graphite Grey and Caribbean Blue have been added to the monotone list while a new iridescent Red (Fierce Red) replaces Scarlet metallic.
Now, one of the reasons Toyota updated the Corolla hatch was to put the new Toyota Saftey Sense system or TSS for short, it will include safety systems like blind-spot monitoring. This year though the safety tech has expanded and Toyota has added something called Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). RCTA provides audible warnings to the driver in an alley-docking scenario where passing vehicles or obstacles may be out of visual range.
Inside, the Corolla hatch receives updates as well, they have fitted a “new-generation infotainment system” that now incorporates Android Auto and Apple Car Play. Navigation applications such as Google Maps and Waze are included and you can also access your music libraries and streaming accounts via apps like Apple Music, JOOX, Spotify and SoundCloud.
