It gets more power and improved infotainment system.

The updated Toyota Land Cruiser Prado not only gets a more powerful and efficient engine but also gets Toyota’s latest multimedia system with a larger display screen.

The updated engine now produces 150 kW and 500 Nm of torque (30 kW and 100Nm more) from it’s 2.8-litre GD-6 diesel engine that’s mated to a six-speed automatic (previously five-speed). The power bump and efficiency are thanks to a new ball-bearing turbo with larger turbine and impeller, and improved engine rigidity and cooling. Fuel economy is improved thanks to optimised pistons and piston rings, changes to the cylinder block and head, higher fuel-injection flow rate and adoption of high-performance materials for the exhaust.

Whilst power has increased, fuel consumption has been improved. Toyota claims 7.9 l/100 km. Fuel capacity is a total of 150 with an87-litre main tank and 63-litre sub-tank. Braked towing capacity is increased to 3,000kg.

A new-generation multimedia system is fitted across the range, which now incorporates a larger 9-inch touchscreen display (previous 8-inch), enhanced voice recognition and compatibility with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Customers are able to utilise mobile-phone-services such as Google Maps, Waze, Spotify, SoundCloud etc. to enhance their driving experience – while providing enhanced telephony and messaging interfaces ‘on-the-fly’.
