One of SA’s favourite SUVs has been refreshed. The Prado gets a more powerful engine, upgraded multimedia system, updated safety features and Special Black Pack with bespoke exterior styling cues.

The 2.8 litre 4-cylinder oil burner which was recently introduced to the Prado range has been updated to produce 150kW and 500 Nm of torque. That’s 20 kW – 50 Nm more than the outgoing 3.0-litre 4-cylinder unit. It’s mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota claims though power is up, fuel economy has been improved in the process.

Inside Toyota says it has upgraded it’s multimedia system. Toyota also says that it now has faster software and screen response. The refreshed Prado now offers both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ connectivity.

Updated safety features include Pre-Collision System (PCS) with both nighttime pedestrian and daytime cyclist detection and Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control.

The optional ‘Black Pack’ include unique front and rear bumper treatment with additional aero parts, a full dark chrome front grille and rear garnish, black fog lamp bezels, door mirrors, door belt mouldings and alloy wheels; and clear rear lamp clusters.
