As we get closer and closer to the future, Audi has revealed its take on a future sports car.

Audi has revealed their response to the Porsche Taycan, the RS e-tron. This could be the future rivalry that we look forward to as the petrol-powered sports cars and GT cars are soon going to be a thing of the past. We have some details on this exciting car.

Powering the e-Tron GT is 85kWh from a 93kWh battery. However there will be two models; the GT Quattro and the RS e-Tron Quattro, and each will produce 350kW with 630N.m and 440kW and 830N.m respectively. With Launch Control active the power is increased to 390kW for the GT model and 475kW for the RS and that will last for 2.5 seconds.

As you might imagine Audi has designed this RS e-Tron to look as futuristic as possible. With its width and length combined with a sloping roofline, Audi themselves have said to have taken some design ideas from a car video game. Matric LED headlights are standard on the RS e-Tron GT, it’s optional on the e-Tron GT. Audi says that its ‘laser light’ technology is available to complement the Matrix LED headlights.

The international launch for the Audi e-Tron GT is set to be in 2022 but here in South Africa, we are yet to get any news of its arrival.
