The Porsche 911 has a long and storied history in rally racing, with its first victory coming in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. But the 911’s rally history began long before that, with its first foray into the East African Safari Rally in the 1970s. To commemorate this history, Porsche has released three exclusive wraps for the 911 Dakar that pay homage to the 1971, 1974, and 1978 entrants in the East African Safari Rally. The for the Rallye 1971 and 1974 decal set will set customers back customers €4,165 (R76,330.00) and the Rallye 1978 decal set costing €5,950 (R109,085.000).
The Rallye 1971 decal set for the 911 Dakar pays tribute to the most successful 911 in the 1971 rally, which came in fifth place and was driven by Polish drivers Sobiesław Zasada and Marian Bień. The decal set features the simple black decals on the bonnet, the front wings, and the doors, as well as the competition number 19.

The Rallye 1974 decal set for the 911 Dakar is inspired by the car driven by Swedish rally champion Björn Waldegård and his co-driver Hans Thorszelius. The car featured blue stripes that traced the shoulder lines of the otherwise white car, and the current wrap takes up this theme with narrower stripes and the Porsche logo on the lower edges of the doors.

The Rallye 1978 decal set for the 911 Dakar is inspired by the car driven by Swedish rally champion Björn Waldegård in the 1978 East African Safari Rally. The car featured wave-shaped surfaces in orange and light and dark grey, and the current wrap reinterprets this design with the competition number 14 on the doors.
