The Hyundai i10 is one of the brands best-selling cars. Now in it’s third-generation Hyundai has sold more than 1.5 million units and 49 252 have made it’s way to South African consumers.
The Grand i10 comes in two derivatives, Motion (1.0) and Fluid (1.0 and 1.2). The top of the range Fluid gets new LED daytime running lights, chrome finish on the bumper, 15-inch wheels (14-inch wheels for the 1.0 Fluid), and body-coloured bumpers and door handles. The Motion derivatives receive 14-inch steel wheels with an attractive cover. Grand i10 buyers can choose from five body colours: Polar White, Phantom Black, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey and Fiery Red. The Fluid version offers additional two-tone options: the Polar White and Fiery Red body colours with a Black Roof.
All Grand i10’s are equipped with an infotainment system with a 6.2-inch touch screen that comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB ports. The Fluid models come with quite a few standard features which include: inter alia, heated side rear-view mirrors to a multi-function steering wheel, artificial leather seat covers with red stitching and rear park assistance..
The 1.0-litre models produce 49 kW and 94 Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre models produce 61 kW and 114 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox. In the 1.0-litre models, Hyundai claims 5.4 1/100 km in the manual and 5.9 l/100 km in the automatic. The slightly more powerful 1.2-litre will do 5.9 l/100 km in the manual, and 6.9 l/100 km in the automatic.
All new Grand i10 versions come with driver and front passenger airbags, ISOFIX child seat attachments on the rear seats and pretensioners for the front seat occupants’ seat belts.
An Advanced Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) are standard features in all derivatives.
