The SUV Sportback is a current trend among the German brands and Audi have now added another one with the Audi Q5 Sportback. This is aimed at the BMW X4 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe but these two SUVs have already established themselves, the Q5 Sportback then needs to be up for the challenge and we think it is.
Now the whole thing about a Sportback SUV is the sloping roof, which makes the car lower at times, Audi though says the Q5 Sportback is the same height as the regular Audi Q5 but is not longer than the standard Q5.
The rear features the OLED lights that we see on the recently facelifts Q5 and customers have the option of choosing 3 different rear light designs, and in the front can opt between LED headlights or Matrix-LED.
With regards to the engines, there will be a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 195kW and 370N.m, while the range-topping engine will be for the SQ5 Sport back which will have 260kW and 500N.m.
Inside, the Q5 Sportback uses the same new technology in the updated Q5: the third-generation modular infotainment system or MIB 3. When fully equipped, the display-based Audi virtual cockpit plus with a 12.3-inch display and a head-up display are also featured.
The Audi Q5 will be assembled in Mexico and will be launched in the U.S. early next year.
