People of the internet, meet the new Mercedes-Benz CLA and A-Class Sedan we recently got to drive. Both stunning looking cars from Mercedes-Benz.
A little history lesson. The A-Class was introduced back in 1990 and has sold a staggering 6 million models. The A-Class was introduced to capture the younger market. The bigger CLA was introduced back in 2013 and has sold more than 750 000 models. Though both built on Mercedes new fourth-generation A-Class platform, the CLA coupe is longer, lower and wider than the A-Class.
Styling
On the exterior, both cars can be differentiated by their head and rear lights. The new CLA has bigger headlights and new re-designed taillights similar to the CLS.
Both models now come standard with Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX digital assistant. Both cars have spacious, beautiful cabins as well as generous boot space. The A-Class has a rather generous 420-litres of boot space, whilst the CLA offers 460-litres of boot space.
A-Class Sedan Interior CLA Interior
On launch, we got to sample similarly powered CLA 200 and A-Class Sedan 200. Both produce a healthy 120kW and 250Nm of torque. Both cars offer adaptive dynamic driving experience. The CLA also offers a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 140kW & 400Nm, in this spec you’ll be spending less time at the pumps. The A-Class 250 Sedan is the more potent offering at the moment. Power comes from a 2.0–litre turbo petrol engine that produces 165kW and 350Nm.
Mercedes-Benz has also confirmed the more potent CLA 35 AMG for the SA market.
