DRIVEN: Audi RS5 Sportback

Bringing Sexy Back.
Bringing Sexy Back.

We recently had an opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Audi RS5 Sportback. What a magnificent car. I am however confused as to why a person would choose the Coupé over the Sportback, but then again to each their own.

Styling

Exterior wise its a stunner. Our test unit was finished in Glacier White Metallic with the Gloss Black styling package, and sporting 20-inch diamond-turned wheels. It’s one of the most beautiful cars we’ve ever driven.

Inside

The interior is marvellous! The sports seats with massage function are a treat. The highlight of the interior is that steering wheel. It feels so good, and no matter where you position your hand it does not feel out of place.

The Drive

It is blimmin fast. Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine also found in the RS5 Coupe and RS4 Avant. It produces 331kW and 600Nm. Audi claims a 0 – 100km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds but in all honesty, feels a bit quicker than that.

Verdict

The base price for the RS5 Sportback is R1 312 000 with our test unit coming in at R1 465 504 with options. You get a lot of car for your money. We think it’s one of the most perfect all-rounders. Its got a big boot, the interior looks amazing, and goes like stick. Well done Audi on this car.
