It has been years since we have seen a Maserati supercar, but the wait is finally over as the Italian brand unveils their latest project, the MC20. It is really about time as we have been starting to wonder, where is Maserati?.

Maserati has gone all out with this car and you can see that from the design. It looks like how a supercar should, it’s low and wide with a big grille at the front, it reminds me a little of the old Maserati MC12. Maserati has spent a lot of time in the wind tunnel as well, you can see that by the sculpture of the actual car there are lines that channel air and big vents on the hood and sides of the car. It’s extremely light as well, The MC20 underpinning is a carbon-fiber monocoque, and results in the weight of the car to just 1500kg.

With the engine the MC20 has a 3.0-litre twin-turbo engine with F1 derived pre-combustion and produces 463kW and 730N.m, considering this is such a light car, performance figures are insane, it has a weight/power ratio of 2.33 kg/hp, the firm says and thanks to a drag coefficient of under 0.38, the car’s said to sprint from 0 to 100kph in 2.9 seconds.

Inside the MC20 we see a very sporty cabin, with Carbon-fiber and Alcantara bits everywhere. Two 10-inch screens: one for the cockpit and the other for the Maserati Touch Control Plus (MTC Plus MIA). Simplicity is also the keynote of the carbon fibre-clad central console, with just a few features: the wireless smartphone charger, the driving mode selector (GT, Wet, Sport, Corsa and a fifth, ESC Off, which deactivates the control functions), two-speed selection buttons, the power window controls, the Multimedia System controls, and a handy storage compartment underneath the armrest.

As we have seen with the latest cars today, connectivity is very important and the MC20 is no exception. The full range of services includes connected navigation, Alexa and Wifi Hotspot and can also be managed through the Maserati Connect smartphone or smartwatch App.

We are yet to find out if the Maserati MC20 will be landing on our shores so we will be following up on this fantastic car.
